Our health and the forces of the natural environment

fuerzas-de-la-naturaleza

It is a pleasure to be with you once more and to share some ideas about a healthy daily life, influenced by the wisdom of the ancient medical science of Ayurveda.

In taking care of our health, just as important as our nutrition, our attitude and the way we think affects our daily life. The activity of our mind, our moral equilibrium, can help us learn to live in harmony with our surroundings, and to stay in good health, especially in this challenging time of pandemic, when life has changed at so many levels. It is very important to be in the present moment, to take care of our health but without fear.

Ayurveda teaches us to establish harmony with the forces of nature. What are natural forces? In Nature there is nothing static. Everything is constantly changing, and this change itself denotes time. Life is a series of changes from one state to another. Within us, we are the same person, “Jiva”, which was there when we were in our mother’s womb, through our youth, old age, and until the end of our life’s journey. The self is the living essence in all of us. It is what we call “Jiva”, and it neither grows old nor dies. It is an essential part of life to learn to establish harmony with the outer world and our inner essence. Ayurveda contrasts the non-suppressible self, the involuntary physical forces such as hunger, yawning, sleep, breathing, with the suppressible thoughts, speech, action, grief, fear, anxiety, envy, and excessive attachment. Try not to suppress the natural urges, for example, if you suppress thirst, it gives rise to dryness in the throat and mouth, hearing problems, fatigue, depression, cardiac pains, headaches, and it alters the blood pressure. It is important in Ayurveda to be more conscious in this present moment, as our immune system weakens when we are feeling a lot of fear, anxiety and stress. That’s why it is important to take amla which is a very small fruit used to support rejuvenation, and very good for the immune system. It is a source of vitamin C, with 20 to 30 times the amount in a glass of orange juice. It is a supporting antioxidant, tonic for the eyes, good for blood, bones, liver and heart. With vitamin E and Selenium it is more complete. I recommend these supplements, and recommend taking care of your health by eating nutritious food, and remembering to be grateful, happy, joyful and alive.

For irritation of the eyes, make an infusion of coriander seeds, filter, then wash your eyes with this solution. Allergies, pollen, redness, the over exposure to computers and machine electromagnetic fields are affecting our eyes. Wash your eyes 3 times a day with this decoction. You can also drink a bit of the solution. It removes excess heat or Pitta.

Hot milk, almond, oat or any other kind of milk with a spoonful of curcuma at bedtime is very good for congestion and sinus before sleeping.

Hope to meet you all again on my next post. Wish health and luck to everyone.
