The Immune System and the Brain

Sistema inmune y el cerebro

It is a great pleasure for me to contribute to Ayurlab with advice taken from my knowledge of the ancient holistic Ayurvedic science. Ayurveda’s treatments are rational, improving the state of your physical body as well as your psychological, emotional and spiritual health.

Today I would like to speak about the effect of high levels of stress hormone. At this present time of pandemic when we live with so much stress and tension, we are continuously afraid, as if we were always running from a ferocious lion. When our levels of stress hormones are continuously raised, inflammation in the body increases and the functions of the immune system become compromised. Scientists are discovering how closely the immune system and the brain are related. There has been much research in the United States about what we call neuroplasticity and the causes of suppression of the immune system. Stress causes increased inflammation, and can either cause a new disease, or worsen the symptoms of an existing one and cause more pain.

However, if you learn to just sit quietly, breathe and feel the joy of life, to create a clear intention to have good health, to be in love with life, compassionate, enjoy nature from time to time, and be grateful – these new emotions allow you to enter new modes of thinking. This will stimulate new brain chemistry. When you are mindful, thankful and happy, with coherence between heart and brain you will start balancing the new chemistry and regulate the body. New genes will be signalled, producing new proteins, and this process reduces inflammation and suppresses any outbreak of pain or disease. While relaxing and focusing on your breathing, place your left hand on your heart, and think of some happy moment that you have experienced. When you are happy, you have a healthy body and new experiences. When you feel low or tired, just change your mood and try to lift your spirits by changing your energy, fighting against tiredness and lethargy.

Just remember that your brain and body have been separated, and the bridge between them is your immune system.

Be happy, don’t worry, and eat fresh food, drink enough water with a lot of lemon juice, and also take the Ayurlab Immunity supplement.

Amla is a fruit that has more than 40% Vitamin C than a glass of orange juice. Vitamin E helps to keep the immune system clean, and Selenium helps us breathe and oxygenate the body. The combination of Amla, Vitamin E and Selenium is an excellent way to boost immunity, so necessary in this time of pandemic.

Recipe: Make a tea with 1 spoon-full of crushed cumin seeds in 1/2 glass warm water. This is good against weakness and fatigue.

Also take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil once a day before food, it will drive away virus and bacteria, improving your memory.

Hope to meet you all again on my next post. Wish health and luck to everyone.
